I just read where you are not supposed to eat hollandaise sauce while pregnant b/c of salmonella poisoning. I ate hollandaise sauce about a month ago. Do you have to get samonella poisoning before it affects the baby, or could it affect the baby and not you?

I ate it as well before I read that you shouldn't. I don't think it really does anything, it's just that it could...As far as who it affects, I'm not really sure.

My understanding is that the salmonella infection is the only concern. Plus they also say- no mayo and hot dogs. I am sorry but I love hot dogs.

hollandaise sauce is the yellow sauce that they put on eggs benedict. Its delicious. I asked my doctor yesterday and he said not to worry about it, b/c of all the cases of food poisoning in restaruants, people are more careful about how they cook things and that get food poisoning from eggs is very unlikely.
