How Do You Determine How Many Weeks You Are

I know doctors date your pregnancy from the first day of your last period, but since you don't actually become pregnant for a couple of weeks after, your doctor sould say 18 wk but baby age is only 16. So on development charts are the pictures of the fetus, ect. based on pregnancy weeks or weeks of fetal age? Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question hehe.

If you look at the chart see which it states.Gestational age is how old baby is.Menstrual age is from your last period.Hope this helps.

most books and stuff run from date of last period.. its just easier and that seems to be the consistent thing - to double check see how long the entire chart runs - 38 or 40 weeks - or see what it says in week 1 - is week 1 conception or does it say your period has started? Hope that helps
