How Do You Get Such An Early

Ultrasound? I don't even get my initial appointment until 8 weeks and I don't think they'll do an u/s until they can tell the s_x! I want one now, I want my mind at ease, and I want to freakin start telling people already!! BTW, I am 5w2d

I see a fertility doctor and even with my history, high-risk, and spotting, he would not see me until 8 weeks. I have heard some ladies getting an early u/s b/c they had cramps and bleeding, but this is not a gaurantee. Also, you can get an u/s at the ER if you have cramps and bleeding, but beware this can be costly and one lady on the thread actually said the ER wouldn't let her see the u/s monitor. They said it wasn't "hospital policy." That said, you might have to wait it out like I did. :(

Thanks ginger, I am sure they have their reasons! :( I have had some cramping but no bleeding. But, hmmm, I have a friend who works in the ER????????? :)

oooh, sounds promising...maybe your friend can do a little "favor"?? :)

That would make my day! Or.... give me unfounded worry. How far along are you and if you don't mind me asking what are you high risk for? I had eclampsyia so severe in my first preg. I had to be hospitalized and they had to take DD 4 weeks early

I am 11w3d. As for the high-risk, it's a long story, but basically, I have endometriosis (had a lap done 3 years ago). I also had a congential anomoloy in my reproductive organs---I had a septated uterus and v____a and I have a double cervix. I had the septum in my uterus fixed with surgery last year and the septum in v____a was also removed at that time, but scar tissue grew back and I had to have treatments for 9 months. The scar tissue made ttc a real nightmare. I still have scar tissue but the doctor thinks a natural childbirth will "tear" it out. Nice, imagery, right? And of course, I still have 2 cervices so I have to be monitored. Fun, fun! I am so excited b/c I go for my 12th week u/s on Friday. Yea!

12 weeks will be a big milestone for you then? That's great! I had a pretty normal preg. until the end and then everything went really bad, really fast!!! It took us almost 2 years to concieve this time, last time it took 3 months!!! I hope eveything keeps going well for you, it sounds like your Dr. has everything under control! How many people have you told? I am scared to spred the news this time, but with this m/s I don't know how much longer I can hide it!!

My doc did my first u/s at 9w 2d...it was my first appointment. I think she just does them routinely on the first visit to rule out ectopic and to make sure my dd was right with my lmp. My doc is great though and said since my hubby couldn't be there for the first u/s she would do another when I go back next week... so he can see the baby. I can't wait! I will be 13w 2d.

kristin-where is you dr??? She sounds AWESOME seriously! I know a lot of people like their Dr.s, but sounds like you've got a great one! I'm jealous! Good Luck!

punkin, I told my immediate family and dh's immediate family when we found out at 5 weeks. I wanted to wait but I had to tell my mom--then dh felt like it would only be fair to tell his dad---from there all the family found out. Other than a couple of close friends, I have not announced yet. After my appt on Friday, I will be in the 2nd trimester, so I can make it official.

The wait is killing me!! I need to come up with a unique way of telling them, that is what is keeping me from spilling it. I want to think of something cool!

This sounds a little silly but- if you tell the doctor your not sure when your last period was- they will send you to an ultrasound to date the pregnancy. Happened to me 3 times. Just a suggestion. As far as seeing someone earlier- does not happen- as far as I know even high risk they don't want to see you that early. (I think it is honestly to get through some of the miscarriages that will take place earlier in some pregnancies)

My doctor gives me ultrasounds almost at my request too. I think it depends on your insurance plan. I have pretty decent insurance right now so my doctor said she'd do another ultrasound so my boyfriend could see baby too. Also, to rule out ectopic since I have endometriosis. I am 11 weeks and 3 days. I have another u/s tomorrow for my quad screening.

I had complications, and subchorionic bleed so I have been getting one since 5 weeks when I had bleeding. I also got one at 6 weeks and 11 weeks and 13 weeks and 16 weeks. I will get one on 20 weeks and 26 weeks to monitor the bleed by the placenta. I am very happy I get to see my baby boy so often, but wish he was not in danger so much.

hi! i dont think doing an u/s this early will tell you anything anyways. but you could try and get in at like 7 weeks. i was able to go in at 7 weeks because i m/c before and they said it is stressful enough and i shouldn't have to wait until 9 weeks or so. but then i ended up going back in at 8 weeks because the week before i lost all my symptoms! everything is ok so far though.

I don't get my first ultrasound until 22 weeks!!! AHH! The torture! I'm only 11 weeks today!
