yah they usually tell you not to worry. worrying just causes us not to eat as much. if they are concerned they will let you know =] yummy lunch meat. lol

ohhh, I've had the biggest cravings for prosciutto. I'm so glad to be able to eat it!!!

I had big-time deli meat cravings, and I ate it anyway. The listeria cautions are new-- women used to eat it all the time. However, I still felt horrible after I'd eat it. And then I got the stomach flu like 2 days after I ate Subway and I was freaking out that I had listeria and was going to miscarry. So just be aware that it'll probably still make you paranoid even though you'll likely be just fine.

If you are worried about it just take the meat off the sandwich and heat it in the microwave, that will kill the bacteria if there is any, then put your sandwich back together. It's better to be safe than sorry. If you are at a restaurant, have them do it for you.

yeah... I'm still paranoid! Lol... I had the deli lady clean the slicer for me.... hee hee...and I'm only eating a little at a time!

I asked my OB the same question, & he basically said that you can get listeria from absolutely anything if they don't ever clean it.

newlywed, next time have her clean the slicer and heat the meat, then you really won't have to worry. also, it will make the cheese kinda melty and that's always better.

I agree...its very rare that anything would happen, but I always microwave my meat for 10 seconds (or grill at subway) just so I feel safe . Altho there is very slim chance, theres still a chance, so considering i eat deli meat almost daily for lunch, why not play it safe :) but gee i cant wait til i dont have to think about being cautious anymore! hehe
