I'm 5 weeks 2 days pregnant - last week I had a nasty infection in the cuticle of my finger which was painful, red and had pus - it is much better now with antibiotic cream and salt water but am very worried it might have affected the baby (my first since miscarriage 2 years ago). Does anyone know anything about this? thanks

An infection in your finger, i wouldnt think so. Unless you were on antibiotics or had gangreen or the infection spread to your blood. My cousin had pink eye 2x during her pregnancy AND got chickenpox, and the baby was fine.

The infection won't infect the baby unless you had sepsis (the infection went to your blood). If you were septic you would have had fevers and flu symptoms and would have needed actual antibiotics to cure it. I was septic with a staph infection during my triplet pregnancy and it did infect one of the babies. You should be fine, though.

Ok..well I have fever and flu like symptoms..fever was 101.6 yesterday first thing..and today it was 99.3 in the morning..I also have diahrea, sore back nausea, and am sweating like crazy..I am in my 12th week of pregnancy..I have been taking Tylenol on recommendation from my doctor. She thinks I have a viral infection..just told me to rest and get alot of fluids and she also said I was partially dehydrated too. Does anyone know if this can effect the fetus at all? I have an ultrasound tomorrrow to check the NT of th fetus..but I am worried. Thanks Kristin
