So i live in Ontario, Canada and im 7 weeks pregnant and my doctors office booked this test for me on January 30th. Its a prenatal screening test that checks for Downs Syndrome, Trisomy 18, and Neural tube defects. Its an ultrasound that measures the thickness of the skin on the fetus's neck. Then at around week16-22 they tell you if you are at higher risk. Anyone out there have this test. I've never heard of it before and my doc office said its new. Any input would be helpful

I'm 13 weeks now. But my midwife at my 2nd visit did mention about this. I wasn't aware of it at my first visit. I'm going for the QUAD test(here in US) around week 15-18. But she mentioned this screening test that's done during 1st trimester that tests the thickness of the skin on the fetus's neck. She also mentioned, it's typically offerred to women over 35 (since they have a higher risk? to down's and such). But she mentioned she talks about the test to every patient of hers just so they have the info and if they wanted to do it. they could. Unfortunately, due to timing and since I was already 13 weeks, i couldn't set up one. Good luck on yours!
