IPS

Hi ladies! Had my second doctor's appointment today, all's well. She gave me a pamphlet about Integrated Prenatal Screening (IPS). It's an optional test but I'm not sure I like the idea of it. The accuracy of it is questionable and a 'screen posative' could cause some much unneeded worry since most who screen posative end up with perfectly healthy babies. Have any of you taken this test? what do y'all think about it? I would love to hear your input.

Personally, I am a worrier so I opted not to take the test. I just felt that if we were to get a positive, I would spend the entire pregnancy worried, which wouldn't be good for me or the baby, and since I would continue with the pregnancy regardless of test results, I opted to decline. My sister in law felt the opposite, she wanted to be armed with as much information as possible. It is a very personal decision. Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy.

i took the ips test i am a worrier but i also have a mature set of mine and know that the test can create a false postive but in the end it is up to god so no matter what the test says i am going to carry on without a weight on my shoulders besides i had the nt scan and seen that my baby is healthy and very active

I choose not to have the test! But as the first post said it is a very personal decision. I would just say if the test showed something wrong would you terminate? If you wouldn't I don't feel it is necessary.

Thanks for your input ladies. I'm a big worrier too so I don't think I'll end up taking the test. Definately a big personal decision though.
