I saw that HopefulKris mentioned if your HCG = 5000 you might be able to see a hb. I had never heard this before. Does anyone know if this is true?

I am not sure if there is a specific number but I know that hopefulkris was saying that because my HCG keeps doubling every 1.75 days that if it keeps at that pace I will be exactly 6 weeks on Monday and my HCG should be at least 60,000.

I found an interesting website --- really, some ladies blog and she has some interesting facts about HCG levels (if they are to be trusted, that is). Here's what she says about HCG levels: "Conventional wisdom is that you won't see anything on ultrasound until your hCG levels exceed 1,000 mIU/mL. However, the gestational sac has been visualized with transv____al ultrasound at levels as low as 300. In the majority of pregnancies, a sac should be visible when levels exceed 2,000. A yolk sac is commonly seen in normal pregnancies once hCG tops 2,500; an embryonic pole is expected at 5,000; and a heartbeat is seen in the majority of normal pregnancies when levels reach 10,000."

ginger - How far along are you? Do you have an ultrasound scheduled?

I am about 7.5 weeks along and I do have an u/s scheduled tomorrow (it's my first ob appt). I am so nervous and excited about it. I want so bad to see something encouraging. I had my HCG tested on Friday and it was 57,000.

Well, I just got back from my appt, and everything went great. I am 7w3d, and the baby was right on target. I even got to see the heartbeat! I didn't get number, but the doc said it was nice and strong. Yea!
