apparently I am about 7 weeks along and my first visit is not until next week - is this normal to have such a late first round of tests? everyone else here seems to have had u/s already...

My first appt. is not until 9 weeks. I imagine that they are doing an u/s then. I did have an appt. earlier because I thought that they'd at least confirm my pregnancy (my first) but they almost acted annoyed that I came in so early and had a bunch of questions. They did not confirm my pregnancy either. My understanding from these boards, though, is that if you do not have risk or have not had a m/c in the past, most doctor's will not see you until at least 8 weeks.

Hi - I am 8w5d pg and won't have my first OB visit until tomorrow. I know from reading a lot of these posts that by this time women have already been for their first visit, had scans, and the whole nine yards!! I also heard that the doctors want to wait until you have missed two periods before they will see you. Best of luck to you and I hope all goes well!!

thanks ladies - i guess 8+ weeks for some doctors is normal? anyways, it made me feel better to hear of other people working with the same timeline... hope all goes well!

Hi there, Hi there...I am 5 weeks now and I just got off the phone with my doctor because they did not want to see me until week 10. I was completely not comfortable with that so I made the appointment for week 8, but they said that I will not have an u/s with this appointment.

I think that the norm is to have a visit when you are 8 weeks unless you are having complication..i.e. bleeding, cramping. Good Luck
