Missed Miscarriage Common

I've been hearing a lot of stories of missed miscarriages, and finding out at an ultrasound. How common is this? It scares me!

sadly this has just happened to me - I am in my 8th week but scan yesterday showed embryo without heartbeat and way too small (more like 5 weeks.) I wasn't due for a scan until 12 weeks but I had suspicions after abruptly losing b___st tenderness at end of week 5. I haven't had any spotting or pain so nothing suggested miscarriage, but it looks like the embryo just stopped developing, just as I had feared. Miscarriage can occur in up to 25% of pregnancies, usually early on, so it can be fairly common to find out when you have an early scan. I'm 35, so that made my chances higher. Good luck and don't worry too much, chances are you will be fine. I didn't have any morning sickness, another warning sign in my opinion, though I know not everyone gets it.
