More About Prometrium

I had two miscarriages before this one, now I am 8weeks and 1day pregnant. I started using prometrium from 5 weeks, it is messy. I tried to wean it off by only using 1 capsule 100mg va___ally in the morning instead of twice a day, however, I got cramps so I have put it back in every evening. My big concern is I heard that some women had missed miscarriage, which was found out by U/S, but they never had any sign until the U/S, so if I am having a missed miscarriage, with prometrium using (it usually calms the uterus to enable fetus adhere to it tightly), maybe I won't feel a thing and know the miscarriage weeeeks later when having U/S, So I worried and scared about another miscarriage on the way without knowing it. Any thought or experience on that? Thank you.

With my first pregnancy I was on prometrium and also with this second pregnancy and I have heard that it actually helps you hold the babies and not miscarry them. I have read a lot of stories of women who truly believed that this saved their pregnancy.

why - April 25

why do you keep posting the same question on other boards?

why not - April 25

IT'S SIMPLE! I just want to get more answers from people who had experience, if you don't, just ignore it, ok?

I was using prometrium and miscarried just 2 weeks ago. This was my 2nd miscarriage. I was not using prometrium during my first pregnancy. Obviously I don't have anything good or bad to say about it.

Thanks - May 30

THANK YOU for posting on more than one site! This was my question too, but I haven't seen it anywhere else.

sister-in-law - June 3

my sister-in-law was 11 weeks pregnant and she was taking prometrium because she was spotting at the begginning at her pregnancy, yesturday they had to remove the baby from her because the heart beat had stopped could this had been from the prometrium. The doctor just told her to take it and never gave her a clear explanation of what it was for she told her it would help the baby grow. Does anybody know anything about this drug and its side effects and can it cause harm to the fetus.

I was given this drug to help with my heavy menstrual cycle which lasted 7 days (5 days of heavy bleeding). I took it for about 3 months and noticed NO change in my cycles, so I stopped taking the drug. All I know is that it is suppose to soften the lining of your uterus. My doctor said it would actually make it easier for a baby to attach b/c of the softer walls. I am not sure of the affect on the fetus or anything. I stopped taking it a while back. Check other forums b/c many girls have been put on this drug for various reasons.

I was on Prometrium due to having tested very low back in March. I started spotting and bled off an on until the end of April at which time they did an ultrasound and told me that although I was suppose to be about 11 weeks, the baby had died at 8 weeks. I asked that exact question, whether or not Prometrium would cause you to not show a miscarriage and he said no. That you will still spot and cramp if the baby dies. Even if you are on the medicine. I am now 11 weeks pregnant and on Prometrium 100mg 3 times a day orally and have had no problems at all. I will say that your dose is very low. Also, my doc told me that it is just as affective orally and that because of how messy it is v____ally that he always prescribes it orally. Anyway, I hope this has helped you in some way!

i am also on prometrium as of yesterday. I am 11 weeks pregnant but my baby appeared to be 6-7 weeks on the sonogram.....I dont know but I am really worried. Is it safe to be on prometrium at 11 weeks? Is my baby way too small?
