No Heartbeat At 6 Weeks

I am 8/9 weeks past last period and went for an ultrasound due to spotting, not heavy, no cramping yet. I was told I had a yolk sac and fetal pole but no heartbeat also measured only 6 weeks along, my doctor has told me to prepare for a miscarriage due to the lack of a heartbeat. This is my 5th child, but I am just as crazy with upset and worry and confusion. Has anyone every had things turn out ok after news like this?

I've read alot of stories on this site where the doctor said "no heartbeat - miscarriage" and there was a viable baby there. If you have a tilted uterus, apparently everything is harder to see, for one thing. I hope this helps, and some people that have gone through this post answers for you.

Hi Dawn, Like Jana said, if you look at some of the other threads on this site, you'll see a lot of people going through the exact same thing. Hang in there, because it's still early.

wait until the 8th week, until you start worrying, in some cases the earliest time to hear a heartbeat is about by 8 weeks, and like Jana said, you might have a tilted uterus, try to relax, lets wait and see and hope for the best ! Gook Luck

Is this a doctor your feel confident about? Perhaps you should get a 2nd opinion.
