Hello Everyone, I was 100lbs and I am 5ft1. before I was pregnant. Now I am 10ws. I keep hearing different things about smaller women. Some say that tiny women dont gain early or show. And some say you do. I have gained 4lbs and am showing. Just a little pooch. I havent been sick but have not been eating anymore than I used to. Actually less. I still exercise too. Is this ok. I keep reading that so many women dont gain a thing till later. Should I be watching what I eat more?.

Michelle, you should be on vitamins and watching what you eat. I think you can eat at least 300 more calories a day. You can exercise but make sure it's low impact (one foot on ground at all time) and try not to get too hot. I am think like you and I gained 30 pounds each time with my other two kids. Hope this helps.

I was 108 and 5'3 when I got pregnant and I'm 13 weeks 2 days and still 108...I'm not showing and wonder when I should start? I never had morning sickness and I'm eating noramlly...I just think its weird that I havent gained any weight yet.

If this is your first baby I don't think that is unusual. Have you been sick as well?

Hi Michelle, In regard to gaining weight, I am 12 wks and have gained only 2 lbs. You technically do not need 300 extra cals a day until the end of the 1st trimester. Of course you need to eat healthy and make good choices, but do not focus solely on the weight. Just stay healthy. As for training if your doctor gives you the a ok to train, you can still do what you were doing before you were pregnant. Just follow the guidelines for a healthy exercise program. See the exercise as a healhty approach for you and your baby, and not a time to try to increase the intensity. Every woman is different and every pregnancy is too. My girlfriend did not gain weight until the 2nd trimester- me too. Good luck with everything.

Hey, I just wanted share my experience. I'm 5'6" and was about 140 before I got pregnant. I don't like to be that big but I was running alot and I think most of it was muscle. After I got pregnant all-day sickness hit and I dropped to 132 lbs (which is what I like to be, much thinner I'm cranky!) and stayed there the entire 1st trimester. Once I regained to 140, I couldn't wear my normal clothes!!! I'm now 23 weeks and weigh like, 145 but it is a HUGE 145! Everybody is different, I just wanted to share my experience! :)

Thank you all. Yes this is my first. I have not been sick. Its just thst food doesnt taste the same to me anymore so I just dont eat as much. Thats why I dont understand why I have gained 4Lbs already. Should I be worried? I have been taking Vitamins since April. And I am on steriods but am starting to be wheened off.

I wouldn't worry about weight gain. Your body is changing and a lot of it is fluid.

Toni, you're right. A lot of it is fluid. Before my first pg I was 5'8" and 138lbs...I gained 70 lbs, but out of the hospital after having my baby I had already lost 35 lbs (baby and fluid). I still have about 10 extra lbs on me and am now 10 wks pg with #2. My doctor said that I have nothing to worry about and will likley only gain about 40-50 lbs this time. On the other side of it my best friend who was pregnant at the exact same time and who is about 2" taller than me but weighed about the same gained less than 20 lbs...so you just never know how your body will react, no matter how much or how little you eat, how much or how little you exercise. so just try to stay as healthy as possible.
