Persistent Spotting

Hi. I'm almost 6 weeks pregnant and have been spotting for 12 consecutive days now. For the most part the blood is dark or rusty brown. It varies from light spotting to period like bleeding, but not very heavy. I've had some cramps but none that really stand out. Could this be decidual bleeding? I had my hcg level checked twice in the last week and so far they seem to appear normal. I have my first appt with my obgn in two weeks and was told that then is when I will have an ultrasound done. I'm worried that I might be miscarrying..this is my first pregnancy. Is anyone else experiencing the same situation? Does anyone know more about bleeding, spotting, or decidual bleeding? How rare/normal is it to spot for this long? I would appreciate any response. Thanks-Vanessa

Hi, I've read that some women do spot during pregnancy. If you're really worried, can you ask your ob to do an ultrasound now? I had a pain in my side, and I got so scared that it may be ectopic, that I called up my doc, and she sent me to ER (it was on a Sunday). The u/s there showed everything was normal and it did make me feel better, so it was worth it. Ask your doc if you can get an u/s now ... all the best. lmk

I spotted on and off brown and sonetimes bright pink for the first 8 weeks or so...try not to worry, there can be amillion reasons for it and if the HCG levels are fine, just take it easy and wait patiently as your little one grows. I am 11 weeks now and it's all good so far : )
