Hi, iv been fretting about m/c since i found out i am pg, cos i had one last march. I have been testing at least once a week (expensive hobby, i know, lol) but this morning when i tested, my positive line was quite abit fainter that normal, and it worked correctly and i use the same brand. should i be concerned? I dont have any pain, but please, i could use some advice. thank you in advance :o)

I think you are looking into things too much. Instead of spending money on tests go and see a doctor. With a history of a m/c they should see you right away. If you have already seen a doctor then call him/her and go in for a visit. They will test you and it will be more accurate than hpt's.

Hi Karen, I know we've talked before, and i'm just as worried as you are. I wish doctors over here measured our HCG levels like they do in the US. Have you had ne blood tests yet? I had mine but they check for anemia, full blood count, liver etc. Still, it puts your mind at rest a little bit. I think we really have to think that if we have no pain or bleeding we will probably be okay. Missed miscarriages are quite rare and it sounds like you're having a normal pregnancy. I was on medicine when i first found out so i was 'high risk' so i'm worried i damaged the baby. Still, we both have only two weeks' until our scans. Hang in there! x

hi, thanks to both replies, emma, i know, the docs are so lame here!!! i have only had 1 test to check for chicken pox (i work in a school) but i did read after that around 8-10 weeks your levels peak then they lower and remain lower til after pregnancy, so im hoping that is what this is!!! I still feel concerned but the docs wont see me for this and i get a new midwife in 3 weeks as my old one is leaving!!! speak soon :o)

I actually haven't seen my midwife yet, just docs appointments. When did u first see yours? I'm not sure if it's going to be after the scan now..

Hi, I saw my midwife at 9wk 4days for my booking appt, your doc should have gotten in touch with them, i think you should fone your doc surgery and find out if they have midwifes there, if they do, tell them you want to make a booking appt asap, cos they can get your family history, do blood pressure and perhaps blood tests, but they also give you LOTS of reading info and vouchers for freebies (always good!!) every book and website iv read says around 10 weeks you should see the midwife. i dont know what will happen at my scan, they will hopefully take some blood for my blood group etc otherwise iv been told i have to see the new midwife at 16 weeks. take care spk soon :o)

I'm going to docs tomorrow (my blood pressure is a tad high-another worry!) so i'll ask her then. I think she did the booking thing and i got my info ie 'Emma's Diary' did u get one? and i've had my NHS free prescription card, i think i'm just waiting for them to call me now. I def. know they don't have midwifes at the docs so i have to go to the hospital or have home visits. Take care Em x

hi, yeh i got all the things "emmas diary" etc, i think that cos you dont have midwifes at your surgery thats why te docs did it. my blood pressure is slightly low!! lol! hope things go ok!!

Karen- I just had a similar experience my self, although I am not as far along as you - I even placed a posting about it a couple of days ago! I definitely wouldn't worry about it in your case for several reasons - you may have tested when you had drunk more fluid that day, and thus your hcg levels would be more 'watered' down (so to speak!) or there are sometime manufacturing differences between tests - even if they are from the same brand and the same packet! More importantly, from what I know sometime toward the end of first trimester (right where you are now) a pregnant woman's HCG levels will drop b/c the placenta starts taking over the funtions that the corpus luteum (the cyst on the ovary that secrets HCg during first trimester) did previously. So I think you are absolutely fine; and I definitely agree with Angela Mac - stop doing the tests! I understand your worries - I too have had a m/c, but sometimes we just need to chill out and take things as they come. So relax and enjoy your pregnancy!

hi JuJu, im trying not to worry, but i do no my wee was not "watered down" as it was my 1st morning wee!! lol. thanks anyway, im going to test anymore, i have my scan in a couple of weeks, im sure i can wait!!! lol!!

Karen- like I mentioned eariler - it is normal for your hcg levels to drop off at your stage as the placenta takes over the hormone funtions etc. Relax!!
