Pregnant Grandma

I am old enough to be a grandma (47) and am 4 weeks pregnant due in Sept. I am scared to death about genetic problems and the physical problems with pregnancy at my age. Wondering if I am just too old to do this.

My husbands Aunt had two healthy babies at about your age. Everything was fine. They can test for most genetic problems too I think. As long as you feel entergetic and have a positive att_tude, everything will be great!

Wow, congratulations! Like Audrey said they can do tests now to determine if there are problems... best wishes for a happy healthy 9 months!

The risks to you and your baby are a lot higher because of your age but that is not saying that things won't go fine. You could have a amnio test when you are a little bit futher on to see if your baby has anything wrong with it and decide what to do from there. I say if you really want this baby and the only thing putting you off is the risk then go for it.

There are lots of women your age who have had healthy babies. Just follow your doctors advice and try to stay calm and relaxed. You're not too old to do this! Best of luck!!!
