Today is last day of 12wks (10wks since conception) and heading into 13wks..I would like to know at this point..Does the baby have awareness? or much later in time?? Does it spend most of time sleeping? and when it's awake?? Thanks!

I don't know if the baby has "awareness", but there are a lot of things the baby can do like move it's arms and legs, suck it's thumb, cry, etc. It doesn't have hearing yet, but around 13 - 14 weeks it is thought that the baby can sense sound through vibrations. Hearing isn't fully developed until I think 22 - 24 weeks. A great site to visit is www.babyzone.com where you can read week by week or set up your own calendar that counts down to your due date. It isn't as detailed in development as some books, but it will give you some info. A really great book that I have is called "The Pregnancy Bible". It has indepth info about development and provides information from preconception all the way to caring for newborns. It is fantastic, the best one I've seen. You can get a soft cover from amazon.com for less than 20.00 or you can also get it used. Definitely worth the money!!! This book also has a section for dads which my husband found helpful. I am 13 weeks so right around the same time as you. You should join me on the "anyone having a july baby" thread!

When I had my 12 weeks u/s (I'm 16w1d) my DH and I saw our baby move his legs and arms, he was very active it was amazing to see. My u/s guy said that the baby probably sleeps for an hour and plays for a hour then sleeps and so on. Deb gave you a real good website to go to check it out.

I just found another great site. Go to www.pregnancy.org and on the right side there will be a b___ton called fetal development. You can view the baby's development week by week and it is quite detailed.
