Question Re Insurance Amp Blood Test

Hi everyone...this is probably a stupid question. On an HMO insurance plan, do you need to go to your primary physician or an obstetrician for your blood test? I'm 6 days late with - hpt. If I don't start by the end of the weekend and regardless of hpt results, I want to have a blood test done.

I have Optimum Choice HMO.. I went to the gyn but I was also do for my annual pap (which you don't need a referral for). But in my benefits book, it made it sound like for just the pg blood test that I needed to go to the PCP first to have it confirmed & then get a referral to an gyn for care. Also, some PCP apecialize in gyn too so they can care for you during your pregnancy. If you have a ++ HPT and are in need of a pap, I would just make that appointment & go to the gyn. otherwise, go to the PCP. You'll probably get in faster with the pcp too.
