hI LADY, hi ladies, Just had an early scan 17th june 08.... . had a little spotting ON 16th morning which was brown and very little to notice..... so had to go for a scan on 17th. My last normal period was on 21st April. But in the scan it measured only 4-5 weeks the technician told it was just 4-5 weeks and was 5 mm. she told me it looks like a sack (gestational sack?) But the doctor on duty there told my GP...... The scan was in conclusive and ectopic pregnancy was not excluded... I didn't know what she meant. She asked me to give blood samples for HCG & PROGESTRONE... which i did! and asked me to repeat the test 48 hours later.... the results of my HCG were 4903 and 5921... they are rising but not doubling!!!!! I don't know what to do..... Am just crying as i type in..... Has anybody had LOW HCG and carried on to a fully healthy pregnancy???? ?

Hi. Well first off, know this. My LMP was 4/25 however b/c I have long cycles (35-38) days.. I didn't ovulate until after CD 21. So I expected as opposed to being 8 weeks I expected to be about 6 weeks due to ovulating 2 weeks later than if I would with the average/expected cycle/ov date. When I went for my scan on Wed. they said I measure 5wk 6d and by my lmp it would be 7wk6d. BUT b/c I ovulated 2 weeks later the fact I am 2 weeks behind in measurement is actually precise and on point exactly! So, that was not a concern of theres. SO is it possible you ovulated later? Did you tell them you have longer cycles? Or I should say- do u? If you do that can be why they only see sack. Now seeing a sack in the uterus I would say rules out etopic? I would think so. But then you say it was "possible sack"- so that throws me off b/c does that mean they def "saw something"? And if so I would say what else would it be but a sack, ya know? Now if you ovulated late and really are only approx. 5 weeks then from what I read (I am not a doctor but this is from reading and talking and hearing) around 5 weeks is when the embryo would just be/start be visible. So they need to confirm it was a sack and then if so and you ovulated late.. re scan in 7-10 days which at that point they would need to see at least an embryo! And your doc should've called you after speaking to the doc at the place they took the scan, to sum up where you stand and what's next. As for the blood.. thats the only think I see as concern and I know levels are supposed to double but I've read 48-72 hours. Talk to your doctor and test again.... Please fill in the gaps, let me know about your cycles and lets take it from there. I am sure a lot of knowledgable ladies here will offer some more and more valuable insight as well. For now, try your hardest not to stress your mind.. lets wait and see. Let me know after you read this.

also.. have you been to the doc before and if so what tests did you do and where did you stand at that point? also how are your symptoms right now. Let us know.

thanks for your reply dear.... Well about stressing... I think I have crossed that stage!!!! Doc asked me to test again tomorrow. At the moment ---- put my feet up and taking rest - good food-- watching movies - left everything to GOD!!!!! I dunno watelse I can do !!!!!

You can check the hcg levels at a website called obfocus dot com, go to Common Questions and What is hCG- your levels appear to be in the 5-6 week range. The ranges are: 5 weeks- 19-7340 and 6 weeks- 1080-56500. If you visit this site, there is also a calculator that will tell you how long it is taking your hcg levels to double. It also states that the levels double only for the first four weeks and then the doubling time increases. I agree with LadyBoleyn- maybe you just ovulate late and I don't know how they can say they are not sure if it is ectoptic if they saw the sac in your uterus. If it was an ectopic, it would not be there but in the tube, right? I would call the doctor and get a better explanation, it's not right for you to have to worry like this. At 4-5 weeks, it is normal not to see the felat pole. Please let us know how you make out.

until jan my cycles were irregular.... they used to be 30 to 50 day cycles. Feb, March and April they were normal(28 - 32 day cycle). May 21st i missed my period.... I wasn't bothered to check coz i always used to get negatives moreover i used to have irregular cycles. Until June 5th .. I was very tired, couldn't walk normal distance without panting and getting tired..... so I tested that day evening and got a faint positive on poundland.Next day dark line with tesco and confirmed with the doctor. Not many symptoms - b___st pain, no nausea - except gag whilt brushing (Tmi sorry), increased CM, fatigue, increased hunger and increased sleep. But now --- symptoms almost the same but b___sts pain only morning and in the night ---- a little tired -- little less tired... but more sleepy!

thanks Clindolm....... Ladyboleyn .. I also want to share something..... normally when i miss my period me and my hubby do not BD (for obv reasons - my hubby is scared!lol) But this month there was increased CM after missing my period and we BDd a lot! (for a change I had an increased s_x drive) Unfortunately didn't check my CM & BBT. I have a doubt I ovulated late... may be in the end of May or beginning of June... Fingers crossed!!!!!

I am really thinking you ovulated late. If prior to recently you sometimes had cycles almost 50 days there is no reason to say this one was longer too, even if not a 50 day, per se. So with that there is a good chance you o'd late and therefore 4-5 weeks (prob closer to 5) would be accurate and therefore only a sac is visible right now. I would get that clearer explanation b/c if they saw a sac it can't be etopic I would think. So another scan within two weeks would put you at least nearing 7 weeks pregnant which by then they should at least see fetal pole. Now the levels thing, I didn't know they do not increase as much beyond week 4. That is rea__suring to hear actually lol. So you see.. this might be the case for you or perhaps in 72 hours it would've been close to double but you had tested 48. I know right now you are in limbo and I am with you on that. I have some light brown tinged stained discharge sporadically but no pain or anything.. I am told this is a normal symptom (considering its description) but even so.. the wait is horrific. I am trying to be optimistic because I need to get more into that mindet for becomming a parent and just for my own sake and well being. The tech told me there will be lots of strange things and things to questions you just have to learn to deal with them with a positive at_tide. So for now Keerthy I would def get a better explanation on the sac and then take it from there with another ultrasound soon. Please tell your doc about irreg. cycles. I too am going to check out the hcg sight.
