Spotting With Abdominal Pain In 10th Week

I'm 24 and now 10 weeks pregnant and have had my initial visits with the doctor, I've had a sonogram already at 8 weeks at which time I was told all was fine. Saturday after going to the bathroom I noticed a brown liquid on the tissue but no spotting on my underwear, this continued through Sunday and early parts of this morning the liquid turned red. Also this morning I started getting lower abdominal pain much like menstrual cramps on my right side. We called my doctor and immediately they started talking about miscarriage and a D&C. I have a sonogram at 1:30pm and I am so worried, this is my first baby. Has anything similar happened to anyone else? I feel like my doctors gave me no positive comments and that it is all doom and gloom for me and my baby.

Anyone? I've read the posts about spotting but I haven't seen any with spotting and pain. Please help, I'm so worried and waiting for this appointment is killing me!

I'm sorry to hear that you are going through this. I don't know if this will help, but I did have a miscarriage in March with spotting beginning for me in my 4th week and having the actual m/c in my 6th week. There was some cramping, but most during the 6th week. Good luck with the sonogram, I really hope it goes better than what your doctors are saying. Did you have any complications or loss of preg. symptoms prior to this? Please let me know what you find out.

Thank you so much for your reply Tara, I was going out of my mind with worry today. I finally had my sonogram and there was baby, happily wriggling about, everything was normal with baby, developing at a good rate, hearbeat was strong, I even got to hear my little one's heartbeat. What a relief! Apparently it is common to have spotting WITH abdominal cramps around the time that you would normally have your period, this can happen at any stage, it didn't happen last month with me. This is my first pregnancy so I've never had any complications, miscarriages etc before. They did talk to me about irregular tissue samples from my pap smear taken at the second visit. Not sure of what this is yet, I go in for another smear test with the camera attached and "oscopy" that I can't remember the name of next week. Hopefully again, nothing to worry about. I just couldn't believe how negative my doctor was to begin with, there was never any mention that this could possibly have a positive outcome.
