Two Sacs Seen But One Might Not Make It

Hi. Had my first scan at 5w 1d after FSH injections and they saw 2 sacs. One was much bigger than the other and the nurse said she didn't think the smaller one would make it "but you never know." Fetal pole seen in bigger sac and my homone levels are good (hcg a little high, which can be explained by the 2 sacs) and everything looks good. Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this and what happened. Did the smaller sac develop into a healthy twin? Or does it usually go away? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have seen it go both ways -- 5 weeks is so early though...I'll bet you might see two heartbeats in there on your next ultrasound.

My friend who is 12 weeks prego with twins just had an ultrasound yesterday and one of them didn't make it. They said it was the smaller one...but they were sharing a sac.
