Hey, well i posted here talking about how i was spotting...well i went into the ER tonite, and they checked my HCG levels and they were 56000, my doctor said that is too high for being 7 weeks pregnant.....has anybody ever had this high of levels?? He said it is most likely a Blighted Ovum....but i have to have an U/S done to confirm it....so upset :(

I think your doctor is a twit :( sorry! According to the american pregnancy a__sociation, 7- 8 weeks past your last menstrual period, your levels can be between 650 - 229,000 mIU/ml. When is your ultrasound? You can go to the hospital and tell them you're spotting. It's a bit dishonest (well you really are spotting but you've already been to the doc) but they should do an ultrasound for you. It's possible you ovulated early, and are a little further than you think, but I believe those levels are ok. I also think I heard you can have higher levels with twins, but I'm not sure about that one.

Oh wait, you already went to the ER..............why in the world didn't they do an ultrasound while you were there? I went in at 3 weeks 6 days becauce I had a little spotting after s_x (cervix just got irritated everything was ok) and they were going to do an ultrasound on me if my hcg levels were high enough. Obviously they weren't since I was right about my conception date, but at 7 weeks they should be able to see a fetus that looks like a little blob/bean and be able to measure the heartbeat.

The Doc said he was going to call me in the morning and schedule me for an ultrasound this week...when i look up HCG levels, everything is telling me that it may be normal or multiples...I am soo confused...but praying there is a little baby or babies in there! :(

Again.....what a twit lol if you were already at the ER they could have done one there, there's always a tech that is able to do it. What's your spotting like? Brown, red, only only on the tissue when you use the bathroom, how long have you had it? Spotting is also more common with twins too.....were you taking any fertility drugs?

Well, I guess you could actually be a bit relieved at his lack of concern. Obviously he doesn't think it's that serious, or he would have had one done at the hospital, so there's a positive way to look at it!

No i wasn't on any fertility drugs....and the spotting is a pinkish color and only there when i wipe, nothing even on a panty liner....

No cramping or anything either? As hard as it is, I would try not to worry. As long as the blood isn't bright red, clotty, or soaking a pad, things should be ok.

56000 should be about right for 7 weeks, i don't know why your doctor would say that. If it makes you feel any better i had some spotting early in my pregnancy, a little pinkish like you described, and it turned out to be nothing, everything was fine and my baby was right on track.

well, i am scheduled for an ultrasound today at 3:15..wish me luck....I am praying to see a baby in there

I hate it when doctors worry people like that. I have never heard of high HCG being a sign for a blighted ovum. Most blighted ova appear as normal pregnancies. Your body doesn't even know that there is no baby so it carries on as usual. I am not sure why he would say that. I would not give up on this baby. If they tell you there is no baby, tell them that you want another u/s in a week before you do anything drastic. There is a possibility that your dates are off unless you are an expert at tracking your ovulation. You could be farther along than you think or less. Please don't lose hope. Good luck on today and keep us posted.

Oh and I had pink spotting at 7.5 weeks too. It turned out to be a pocket of blood that had formed when the baby implanted. It should have been "implatation bleeding" but the blood just sorta got suck in there and as things started to move and shift it came out.

Oh man that sucks that they were so insensitive. The other girls are totally right. Let us know how the u/s goes today!!!

Pink07 - October 3

well i went for my u/s today...and guess what? there was my little baby, measuring around 6 weeks...with a good, strong heart beat :) I am not sure what was going on that doctor's head when he told me something was wrong....

Congratulations!! Whew I am so relieved for you. Happy 9 months to you!

Yeah i would definately get a second opinion on this before you get upset because your hcg levels are VERY VERY HIGH! and honestly when i read that i was thinking multiples myself... and for being only 7 weeks and having such great hcg levels i think you're spotting might not be anything BAD... i guess just schedule your u/s and get in asap and be sure to please let us know! But honestly with the info you have given us- nothing seems wrong...
