Hey, I went to the ER 3-4 days ago for a TINY amount of bleeding. They said my HCG levels were at 36000 and my calculations were that I was 6.5 weeks pregnant then and I am 7 weeks today. They did an u/s and saw a sac and yolk but no baby, fetal pole, or HB. They said the sac measured at 6 wks then. I went to the DR today and followed up. They did an ultrasound and saw the baby but no hb and the sac was measured at 6 weeks and the baby at 4.4mm. I have to go back in one week to see if the HB can be detected. I am really nervous. Does anyone have any story similar to this where they went on to have a healthy baby and pregnancy? I am so worried.

Could you be slightly off on your dates? The fact that no baby was seen and then 2 days later it was, seen tells me that the baby is indeed growing. It is VERY borderline to see a baby or a hb at just 6 weeks however it is growing rapidly and within days blood should start pumping through the babies heart. Generally about 21-23 days after conception or about 3 weeks. You often here time and time again that the babies hb was not seen at 6 weeks but then was pumping away like crazy the following week. I know this puts alot of stress on us to have these early scans. But hold out your faith that everything should be just fine. As far as everything else goes you seem right on track for your dates. You mentioned a measurement of 4.4mm that sounds perfect for size for those dates as mine was 4.8 for 6w5d. Usually be 8 weeks if a hb is not seen that the pregnancy is not considered viable. I think everything will be just fine but you are earlier than you thought.

I know the exact day of my LMP and I have normal cycles. The only thing I am thinking is that I may have ovulated early. I did not see a baby but the doctor at the health department said she did and gave me a pic. Looks like white fuzz to me! I am just worried but thank you for your response.

sorry, I meant ovulated late...thus conceived late.

Yes, that it was I would think too. Days in the early part of pregnancy can make a huge difference as cells are deviding rapidly..I think things are on track for you!! Good luck

I think that's why my doctor doesn't see us until pretty far along between 10 and 12 weeks, those early days are hard to predict because they depend so much on when you actually conceived. It sounds to me like the baby is growing, so I think you should see the heartbeat at the next scan you have.

Thanks ladies...I am feeling more at ease. I am still worried b/c so many people have said I should see the HB by now. I am choosing to remain optimistic and prayerful! THANK YOU ALL AGAIN!
