What To Expect First Appointment

What should I expect at my first appointment? I will be meeting with the NP. I am 7w2d, will I get a u/s and/or sonogram on my first visit? I know the heartbeat can be visible at 6 weeks.

I had my first appointment at 12 weeks, and that's considered average unless there's risk of complications. I met my OB, he gave me a bunch of reading material, a check up, checked the size of my uterus during the exam, and then used a fetal heartbeat monitor to hear the heartbeat which he said was strong. He let me listen to it too. Because I am healthy and at no risk, my ultra sound is only scheduled for the end of November. Hearing the heartbeat was very special.

It seems a little strange that you would be meeting with the NP at the first visit, so it's possible they won't do all the routine stuff until later. I did go and meet with the NP first, at just 5 weeks, to confirm. then I had my first "real" visit at 9 weeks. At that visit, they took blood to do several tests, did the physical exam, the ultrasound, and answered some of my questions. I had a previous miscarriage, which was why mine was relatively early. Like the previous poster said, it's usually more routine to do the full exam later than 7 weeks.

I had my first appt at 7wks. Same as the other ladies mentioned - I had a routine exam, was asked a lot of Q's, and had a ton of blood drawn. I complained about really bad cramps, which prompted the dct to send me in for an u/s, but otherwise I don't believe you would get one. My dct said they only give one u/s and that's at 18 weeks. They do listen to the heartbeat at about 12 weeks.
