What To Expect At 10 Weeks

Hey, I have a visit with my doctor today and I'm 10 weeks. I first saw my doctor when I was 5 weeks due to a miscarriage. What's a typical procedure at 10 weeks? Thanks

Well, TYPICAL procedure, meaning for someone who hasn't already been in because of a miscarriage? Hmmmm....Family health history, listen for the heartbeat (only 50/50 chance you'll be able to hear it this early) Check uterus, blood presuure, urine or blood sample MAYBE (my doctor didn't, but I've heard some do) Talk to you quickly about prenatal vitamins, weight gain, and pregnancy in general. I think that's about all that happened at my first one. She offered me an ultrasound right then and there but I told her no because our insurace only pays for one ultrasound and we wanted it done at 20 weeks (which we did and found out it's a girl :o)!!!! ) Anyway, I think that's about it. Prenatals are pretty boring except when you get to hear the heartbeat for the first time. We heard ours at 10 weeks. But I think that's it. Good luck at your appointment!!!!

oh yeah, and they weigh you, but I figured that was kind of a given, lol.

Thanks, actually I had a ultrasound at 5 weeks and I heard the heartbeat. They didn't think they would hear it, but we did!! She may give me another ultrasound today...not sure. I was just curious so thanks for responding.

We go for our 10 week appt. tomorrow and I was also wondering what they were going to do. We've already had one appt., where they did an ultrasound at 7w4d. How often do you get ultrasounds done.....if everything is normal? I have a didelphic uterus so I don't know if I'll have them more often or not...guess that I'll find that out tomorrow :)

Well, I meant listen for the heartbeat via doppler, not ultrasound. They listen to the heartbeat i this manner at each visit. Squished, how many ultrasounds a woman with a normal low risk pregnancy gets pretty much just depends on what kind of doctor you get, how much money your willing to pay, etc. As I said before, my doctor asked me if I wanted one at 10 weeks. There was no reason for it and I said no. I think the only one I will have is the 20 week ultrasound to check the organs and spine and of course, lol, gender, and I already had that one. We may have one at the very end of pregnancy to see how big the baby is and what position she is is for delivery. You may have more than that because of your uterus though :o)

Hopefully tomorrow the dr. can pick up the heartbeat, but I know that it's early so we'll see! Thanks for the info Erica :)

How is everyone feeling at 10 wks? My bbs aren't as sore anymore, I have been getting a lot of headaches though. I haven't gained any weight. I hope my little pea is still growing in there ! I heard the heartbeat last week, but the baby was really small.. I can't help but worry. I go back next Monday for another u/s.

Chas I am still feeling sick. My b___bs are extremely sore and I'm always tired. Yesterday at my appointment the doctor couldn't catch the heartbeat with the doppler, but I had an ultrasound and heard the heartbeat and saw my baby moving. The u/s tech was like, "the baby's waiving!!" It was so amazing. I think I'm having a girl, so "she" was moving around and I did see her had moving. I picked up weight...I can't believe it though. I don't need to gain any weight so soon. But Chas I wouldn't worry although it's easier said...I know everything will be fine. I'll keep you in my prayers. Oh and Squished because I had a miscarriage I had an u/s with every visit. My next appointment isn't until May 8th so I'm not sure what they will decide at that time.

We went for our 10 week appt. today and the dr. had a portable u/s and we got to see the heartbeat again and the baby was right on with what size it was supposed to be so woohoo! The dr. pointed out the arms and legs, which was very cool! We didn't get to listen to the heartbeat, but I hope we do at the next appt. in a month! I've had some tan discharge, but the dr. said not to worry about it at all, that everything looks fine, so good! I'm sure that I'll worry anyways :)
