I am not quite 7 weeks along at this point. We just told our parents about the pregnancy this weekend. I am so excited to tell other people, but nervous to do so too soon. I have heard different things as far as at what point the possibility of miscarriage decreases significantly: 8 weeks, 10 weeks, the end of the first trimester. What have you all heard?

There is always some sorta risk during pregnancy no matter how far you are but you do hit certain milestones. After you see the HB the risk of m/c decreases dramatically and when you enter the 2nd trimester your risk of m/c drops to 1%. That is pretty much what I was told by my doctor. GL!!!

I was told that 12 weeks is when the rate of miscarriage drops significantly....I mean there is still a chance throughout..but its slim... I told close family after 4 weeks...but held off to tell regular friends until 12 weeks...its really up to u as to when u guys feel most comfortable...

My OB said to me if i didnt m/c by 10 weeks then there was an excellent chance i wouldnt and i am now 20 weeks. Usually the goal is getting thru the 1st trimester if you make it thru that than its very slim of anything happening after that. But of course there are no guarantees at all.

It depends when you hear the heartbeat. If you hear it at 7 weeks the chance drops down to 5% and once you hear a heartbeat after 9 weeks it drops down to 1-2%
