When Do HCG Levels Peak And Start To Tamper Off

My nurse said that HCG levels actually double only in early pregnacy. I've read that this happens around 9-12 weeks? Does anyone know if this is correct?

Did a little research hope this helps. The HCG hormone peaks to its highest levels between 8 and 11 weeks of the pregnancy. Then the level slowly decreases, lowering at 12 weeks and again at about 16 weeks of the pregnancy. The HCG level remains lower until several weeks after the birth of the baby. As the HCG levels lower, the maturing placenta takes over the role of producing other hormones to support the pregnancy (at around 12 weeks).

Hi, my nurse said the same thing, at about 9 1/2 weeks my symptoms started to go away, I did freak. But she said it is normal, the placenta is started to take over.

Thanks, ladies I was a bit concerned b/c my levels at 17dpo = 860; 21dpo = 3875; and 32dpo (approx 7 weeks) = 57,000. Based on my doubling calculations I figured I should have been at 186,000, but the nurse said my numbers were excellent and should not worry. She said they only double in early pregancy.

Your levels sound great dont worry about the numbers as long as they doubled when they should i am 10 wks when i went to the hospital at 7 weeks for bleeding my beta was 70,000. I am now bed ridden for a hematoma that needs to bleed out so enjoy your pregnancy you have a good levels.

Thanks, Robyn. My numbers definitely doubled between 17dpo -19dpo; and then again 19dpo - 21 dpo, so I think I am good. I am sorry to hear you are bedridden, but I wish you all the best!!!

same to you you will be fine enjoy. The beta game is total hell we did IVF and I had 7 beta tests every 2 days i was on pins and needles the 1st test was great the 2nd dropped 5 points the RE said consider the pg done and then 2 days later it more than doubled then continued to do so. It turned out we implanted 2 embryos and last week they found and empty sac which never grew its behind all the blood. So it probably explained the small drop in the hcg levels. But I understand how we freak out from this. I love these forums they have been great support for me everyone on here is is so nice. Good luck

oh, Robyn. I hadn't heard that they found the empty sac. I am sorry to hear about the loss of your twin. But on a positive note, it sounds like the other one is doing just fine!
