When Should You See A Heartbeat

I'm 6 weeks today and I was wondering how early should I see a heartbeat on ultrasound? I don't see one yet...just a sac and yolk sac. Isn't this normal?

That's totally normal. I had my first u/s at 6.5 weeks and was not able to see a heartbeat and my doctor said it was fine and it was too early. A lot of women do see the heartbeat that early, but it's not uncommon not to. I went for my 10 week u/s on Monday and saw the heartbeat at 160 bpm. Good luck to you and congrats on your pregnancy!!

According to the pregnancy "week by week" information, the heartbeat should start around the 6th week. But that depends on when during the week. As long as the doctor says everything is fine, then things should be okay. I'm 7 week and just had the opportunity to see it for the first time. But most of us don't even get to hear it until 8-12 weeks, usually when it's strong enough to be heard.

We saw our baby's heartbeat at 7 weeks and got to hear it at 12 weeks.
