Im a lil worried, we all know the pregnancy waiting game is never ending until the baby is out, but i so just want to see my baby now. Im 6 weeks, and my doctor doesnt wanna see me until 10weeks, which im praying that he'll do an U/S then, but when he does, do they always give you the photo? This is my first pregnancy, so im new to all this!

I've had 2- 1 at 5 wks, 4 days and 1 at 6 wks 1 day, and I didn't get a picture for either. There wasn't really much to see though, just a blob. I think they usually only give the picture when you're far enough along to see the form of the baby.

I got a picture of the "peanut" when I was 5w6d (last week exactly)! I only got it, though, because I kept trying to mess with the monitor so my husband could see it. LOL. doctor got fed up with me and gave up.

Hello Jennifer, I know all doctors are different, but if you know when you conceived, the doctors around here don't do an ultrasound until around 20 weeks unless something comes up where they need to check on the baby before that. Good Luck w/ everything!

It's normal not to see the doctor until 10 weeks. There is nothing he can do until then. Just ask for a photo; they should give it to you. Some places even let you have a video. best to you and your little one.

It depends where you live i think, i live in the uk, and they don't see you untill your 12-14 weeks, and you have to pay £3.50 for every picture. I was 13 w 3 days when i had my scan, but it was worth the wait! It was waving, kicking, everything! Just try to relax about it, and just make sure you ask! Also do you have a midwife you can ask before hand?

i had my first appointment at 8 weeks 5 days and i got an ultrasound and a picture.... i call it "my little blob"

I had an u/s at 14 wks and the doctor gave me a picture. He has a machine in his office so he gives an u/s at every visit.

my first appt is july 20th. that'll make me about 6-7 weeks from conception day. i know dr.'s go by your last period but we did the iui on june 10th. right after i got the + for ovulation to occur 24-36 hours later. my dr. told me she like's to see me at 10-12 weeks but i know it's only like 6 or 7. i hope i get a picture, peanut or blob, i still want it. this is my first little joy.

hey Jennifer- Do you mean to say that you haven't had a u/s at all and your first one will be at 10 weeks?? I thought that they are always supposed to do one once your hcg hits 2000, or around 6-7 weeks, just to make sure the baby is in the right place. I had an ectopic pregnancy which was discovered by an early scan, and if it waited till 10 weeks, i could have lost my life, because I had absolutely no symptoms. An ectopic usually ends up bursting by 7 weeks. see if you can get an earlier scan.

Crystal--you have to add the two weeks to when you conceived to get your "gestation". It's weird, but that is the way it works. If your doc wants to see you at 10 weeks gestation, you should make the appt soon, as they may fill up by now. best to everyone, and their little ones!

lala, your funny. i said my first appt. is for july 20th. as soon as i found out i was pregnant i called my dr. and she scheduled me the appt. so don't worry. it took us almost 16 months to conceive so i'm on top of this one :)

Good to know, and britney, i did have worries of a tubal pregnancy, because i had a lot of cramping, but no discharge or spotting, my nurse said on the phone that is was normal, and if i was having an eptopic pregnancy id know it, id be doubling over in pain, and id have spotting, did u not have any of that when u had yours?

I've always gotten the u/s pics and a video of each ultrasound. My first u/s with my son was at 6 1/2 weeks and I had one about every 6 weeks after that due to my being a high risk patient. He gave me about four or five photos each time, so I have a whole sc___pbook just of u/s pics, lol. I would just keep bringing the same videotape back in with me and he would add each u/s onto it. JenniferRose....I've also had a tubal pregnancy and I experienced major pain with it. The kind of pain where you want to puke it hurts so bad. It was mainly on my left side because that was the tube it was in. At first I thought maybe it was just a really bad case of gas or something, but then I went to the bathroom and was bleeding. I knew something wasn't right because AF wasn't due for 2 more weeks. I went to my OB the next day and had a v____al u/s and he had the ambulance rush me to the hospital to the ER. He said my tube was hours away from rupturing. I spent the next two days/nights in the hospital and they checked my HCG levels every 6 or 7 hours and they were going down. Once my HCG levels were down enough to be sure I was miscarrying, I went home to have the m/c naturally as it was already being absorbed back into my body. Just thought I'd share with you. Good luck.

JenniferRose- NO!! i had ABSOLUTELY NO cramping or spotting AT ALL. and I also know of other people who haven't had any symptoms. I lost my right tube because my doc didn't think it was ectopic cos of lack of symptoms, hence i went on to 9 weeks until i went for a second oppinion, and thats when it was found. It was a miracle it didn't burst. The surgeon i took said that was absolute negligence. he said that if you hcg is rising, and the baby is not in your uterus, its somewhere, and its got to be found. An ultasound is nothing, and in this area you have to be safe than sorry- its just not an area you can take risks in. even though ectopics aren't that common, I was told that you should always have an early ultrasound just to make sure its in the right place. Its also silly of the nurse to genealise that way. People react differently to certain situations. I'm now almost 12 weeks and haven't had a day of morning sickness. So please just try to get an early scan, or ask your doc to make sure his malpractice insurance is payed!

I am 10w2d and I just had my first ultrasound 2 days ago. I was given a photo of the ultrasound and it was wonderful. I can make out the shape of the head, the body and the little arms and legs. On the u/s we could see the little arms and legs waving and the heart beating. The little baby was moving all around to. It was the first time I saw my doctor too. I don't think they see you before that point unless there is something high risk because until 9w or so, not much can be made out. I had some cramping and spotting early on, and I was told that if it got any worse then to come into the office and an ultrasound would be done. Luckily, it turns out that that was not necessary.

AmandaManns - July 5

I got an ultrasound done at 7 weeks and I could see his eyes, mouth, hands, legs everything. It was an internal ultrasound and I guess those are supposed to be more accurate. I also got the pictures.
