12 Weeks And Counting

I've been looking forward to being 12 weeks and am finally here :) YAY!! Tomorrow I have my second doctors appt and hopefully will be able to hear the heartbeat. That would be great! My sinuses have been bad for about a week now. Anyone else have this problem?

yesterday, I had my dreaded 12 week ultrasound. (my second one so far). I say dreaded, because that is how far I made it in my first pregnancy. (I had skipped into the dr's office for an ultrasound, only to find out that my baby had died, due to rare complications) I was devastated, so, for this one, I prepared for the worst. My husband came with me, and I was really quiet, sure that the same thing was going to happen again. I've been here before I thought. This is my 6th pregnancy, with only 1 child so far. The ultrasound tech quietly moved her wand across my belly, hitting b___tons on her machine as she went. Then it happened. "I can see your baby" she said. "Really" I said, sounding more surprised than I meant to. she turned the monitor to us, and there it was. Our dancing miracle! This perfect sillouette of a baby, kicking it's legs and moving it's arms, as though the best song on the radio had just come on, or like it was being filled with the Holy Spirit, and wanted the world to know. I laughed at the spectacle, I couldn't help myself. There was a perfect little bum, hiding genitals of unspecified nature, too. The tech moved the picture, so we could see the face. Granted, it's early, but there, in fuzzy black and white, was our precious baby's face. Almost looking at us from the monitor. after 12 weeks of frightening uncertainty, it's official. I'm having a baby. And it loves to dance!

Ladies, post how your doc appt went! I'd like to hear how it was!

My doctor's office called to tell me that he is out this week on family emergency, so I have to wait another week or so for an appt. I will call the office to reschedule today. Bummer!! I was looking forward to my appt.

Im only 10 weeks but I wanted to join this thread. This is my second child. I can't wait till my next appointment. My doc said that he does not give ultra sounds until at least 16 weeks or unless he suspects something wrong. I quess I will have to pay out of my pocket for someone else to due one.

Erika, my doctor has the same philosophy as your doctor and plans on giving me my one and only u/s at my 20 week visit.

Hiya guys....well sickenss is still here and doesn't seem to get better but progressively worse. Have felt really grotty over the past few days. Rachel* sorry to hear that your scan was postponed. It'll be worth the wait. Im seeing my midwife on saturday for my next update appt. Im not sure what she'll be doing tho. I wish you could see my scan pics....they're amazing....they're so clear and it's clearly a baby not a blob!!! Creating life is a wonderful thing...altho you feel yucky for it"!!!!!

Beckins, I'm so sorry to hear that you are feeling so horrible. I thought my sickness was gone, but I still get it (milder than before) in the evenings. I wish I could see your u/s pic too. My appt is now set for Friday 3/18. It'll be a long wait, but that's okay.

I found this place where I live, they do the 3D ultra sound scan. They give you a variety of pictures, and a fifteen minute video. they will also tell you the s_x of your baby. It costs about $150 dollars, out of the pocket, but its well worth it. They will due it as early as 6 weeks pregnant. Im going to wait until Im atleast 12 weeks though, so that I can see the babys profile better.

Beckins I hope you feel better soon!

Erika, I might look into that. That would be fun for me and hubby :)

Yea you should, I know for a fact that I won't be able to hold out until 20 weeks. Unless I make up stories to have my doc think something is to be concerned about. Of course I don't even want to think about something being wrong with this pregnancy.

Ladies, I know the wait can be agonizing, but trust me, there is NOTHING more frightening than the appt for a check up when the doc thinks there's a problem. I have been through that too many times to count! Please don't 'make up' a reason for an u/s. It puts women who really have a problem on a waiting list, because your healthy pregnancy was just too exciting to wait for. When I had my first pregnancy go bad, I had to wait for an 'emergency' u/s because of the waiting list, and it was the worst moments of my life!!!! I'm sure all you ladies are just fine, and are carrying beautiful, healthy babies. You'll see soon enough! Oh, btw, Rachel*, I know the wait sucks! Also, I, too have had slight evening sickness!!! Kinda queasy feeling! Interesting, eh?
