Question: I am terribly confused and very upset , if someone could kindly asist. I am supposedly 8 weeks pregnant but the baby is not gronwing at the rate it should. In the scan it looked like 5 weeks and 6 d though i was 8. My HCG level is also increasing but at a very very slow rate, does this mean a misscarriage for sure.Doc has told me to get another scan done which will be the third in the 20 days.Is this really going to help. what is she waiting for...why not go ahead with D & C Post Your Answer To The Question Above:

You should be glad to have a dr who would rather make positively sure that it is a failed pregnancy or not. Too many drs just do the quick too early to really tell 1st scan...tell you sorry its a blighted ovum, or whatever, hop you into a quick d&c....and you never really know....were they right? Especially after reading all the many stories online of women being told they don't have a viable pg, to only find out later that everything turned out to be ok, just slow starters. So be happy your doc wants to be 100% sure first. :) It has been shown time and time again, that many babies start out several or a couple weeks behind what we think they should be...this is usually because it takes up to 2 weeks before the fertilized egg makes it down to the uterus to finally implant. So it would be delayed in development, but they do catch up as the pg progresses. Best to be patient and be sure. Would you want to have doubts later as to whether or not it would have been a baby if only you had waited a few more weeks to be sure??? Good luck and God bless you.
