35 5 Weeks And Not Having Weekly Appts

My dr. told me today to come in 2 weeks and then the week after and that's it. My c section is 7/18. I was OK with it till I started reading stuff on the C section forum, such as needing help every time I get in and out of bed. That's scary! I've been having crampy contractions, but she checked my cervix today. It is closed but she said it's soft. Do you think it's bad that they don't want me back for 2 weeks at this stage? thanks all :)

when I say I was OK with "it", I meant the C section. just wanted to clarify :)

I think that at this stage weather you were having a normal birth or C section it is normal to see the doc every 2 weeks. My doc has me to start my 2 weeks after my next app. Then in the last 4 weeks or so it will be every week. I guess every doc is diff and if she does not see the need I guess it is ok. I would discuss it with her just to make yourself feel better. I plan to question my doc when I go back. Good luck to you. If you dont mind my asking why are you getting a C section ?

My reason is I know someone who had it shedule by choice because she wanted the baby out of her just did not want to be pregnant anymore at that stage and was looking forward to drinking and partying. But she is cut from a different thread meaning she is not playing with all her marbles in the first place. Not saying I think you the same way I was just curious.

I would love to have another natural birth. I was having mild to mod. contractions for 5 days and then finally gave it to Pitocin/epidural. The pitocin made me go from 3-10 in 2 hours and then she was big and coming down crooked, so they vacuumed her and I had a 4th degree tear. 2 and a half years later, I'm still in pain and may need surgery. If I have another v____al birth, I may be incontinent for the rest of my life and I'm all set with that at age 30!! I'm really nervous to have a c section, but this is my last child and there seems to be plusses and minuses to both c sections and regular labor. thanks for asking :)

I am pretty surprised that she doesn't want to see you every week now. But I don't think it will hurt anything. It is just nice for us mostly I think becuase we start to get anxious towards the end. I didn't find having a c-section to be that bad at all. I had an emergency c-section and don't remember a thing about the surgery (of course) I woke up and my belly was suddelny flatter then it was before I was put to sleep. And I don't remember being put ot sleep. Off subject though, you won't be put to sleep. They give you awesome pain medication that you take every 4(?) hours. As long as I took it on time I felt nothing at all. I was walking around by the second day. They didn't want me to try before that and just left a catheter in me. But I felt absolutely no apin whatsoever as long as I took the pain medication on time. If I didn't though, now that is another story. Then I would have needed help getting out of bed. I remember getting up once and the pain medication hadn't kicked in yet. I was trying to take the dog outside, and suddenly I started to feel such pain. It is sort of similar to having a bunch of burning matchsticks on the place you got cut at. Definately not pleasant. I had to call my fiance to watch the dog so I could sit down before I fell over. It was that bad. So just make sure you take the pain medication on time.

so, Misty, how long did you need help getting in and out of bed?

Only one time. The second day at the hospital after they took the cathetar out they wanted me to stand up and try to go to the bathroom. The nurse helped me up then. I might have even been able to do it on my own then too. But they did it to be safe since I had just had surgery and it was my first time trying to stand up. But the pain medication truly did work wonders. I got up frequently. To throw things away and go see my son and cange his diaper. Pick him up to feed him and then lay him back down so I could go to bed and not worry about him falling off the bed. Really though, after that first time I never ever needed help getting out of bed. I'm sure I might have if not for that pain medication, but it is good stuff. Don't worry, maybe your mom just didn't have the pain medication I had? It might have been different back when she had you. But I really felt nothing at all, no pain whatsoever, as long as I took that medication on time. And they give you a prescription to fill for when you go home, so you have it there to. And I stopped having pain before I ran out of the pills, so they give you plenty of them. Not to worry. I didn't see it as a big deal at all. The thing gave me no problems, healed well, and didn't hurt. If I remember right you are supposed to wipe it off with something they give you from the hospital and keep an ointment on it to make sure it doesn't get infected. I don't remember for sure though. But you will be fine.
