From what I know the best thing to do is go see your doc (or ask the pharmacist if there is one you trust) and ask about the temperature kit that helps you know when you are ovulating. After months of trying 2 of my friends did this temperature thing, and both got pregnant the first time they did it. It's simple, all you have to do is check your temp EVERY MORNING as soon as you open your eyes and when your temp goes up that means you are ovulating! It worked for my 2 friends - they both got prego the first time the temp went up and they tried. Good Luck!

Having such a wonky cycle is much tougher to work with than us gals who have the standard 28 days but here's what my girlfriend is doing right now: She has a regular period each month but she only ovulates once every 1-3 months and sometimes she goes even longer. This means she has as few as 4 times per year when she can get pregnant. Her doctor recommended an ovulation predictor which can be purchased at any drug store (often on the same shelves as the pregnancy tests). It can tell when your ovulating and when your most fertile days are by monitoring your body temperature and although some people are skilled enough to do this with only a thermometer, an ovulation predictor is your best bet. Some can provide you with as many as 6 fertile days within a cycle! Just remember that sperm survive for several days inside of you and that you can have s_x up to four days before you ovulate and get pregnant. The sperm take anywhere from 12hrs to 48hrs to get to the egg and once the egg shows up, it only sticks around for 12 hours before it's useless. This means it's best to have s_x BEFORE you ovulate because once you ovulate, the sperm have to race to get there and then only the fastest (12hr guys) get there. This being said, it's extremely difficult (if not impossible for the majority of women) to predict the exact time of ovulation so have s_x 5 days before you the test says you will ovulate and one day after in order to cover all of your basis. Good luck and happy trying!

I, too have a really irregular cycle when I'm not on the pill. I bought some ovulation test strips over the internet. They're cheap and they work. However, if this is going to be a long term thing, it may be cheaper to invest in a kit and just buy the sticks for it. I don't know about that. I paid I think $17 for 20. And like the other ladies said, if you do it right, the basil body temp method works. Best of luck to you!

Just have s_x every day and you can't go wrong. That's what I did. : )
