Antibiotics During 1st Trimester

I have a tooth that needs to be extracted. I will have to take antibiotics before they take it out. I am worried that taking antibiotics in my 1st trimester could harm my baby. I am only 8 weeks pg. I did read some about penicillin being the safest to take during pgncy, but then I read that it is best to wait until the 2nd trimester. I am in such pain with the tooth though, it just can't wait that long. Did any of you ladies have to take an antibiotic during your 1st trimester? Is your baby ok?

i have had to take trimathoprin, which the doctor gave me for a urine infection, its very dangerous for the baby apparently but obviously i didnt know, otherwise i would of thrown them away.. im now on amoxicilin, for a chest infection, your dentist will know what you should be able to take you will be fine.. xx

also, call your ob and let them know that you are going to the dentist and tell them what anitibiotics you are supposed to take. They can lead you in the right direction as well. Good luck.
