Any Radiology Techs Out There

I'm a nurse at a small hospital, which means I do it all- OB/ER/etc. and help with lab and x-ray. I just found out I'm 5 weeks pregnant, and wondering about how to protect the baby when I need to be in assisting with x-rays. There is often no one else to help the tech, as I'm the only one in ER other than the pt. Any suggestions???

If I were you I would double up on the lead apron.

I work in an ER, I would actually say this is a situation you MAY want to let them know you are pregnant earlier than normal. Plus be very careful to be shielded behind the barrier or lead apron palooza as much as possible. I would actually let someone know to see what can be arranged, if anything, or ask hypothetically of team resources if you are worried about your job. Good luck!

I worked at a dental office and when my co-worker was pregnant, the other girls took the x-rays for her so she wouldnt have to.
