At One Point In Your Pregnancy

I know this is a bit of a pessimistic question but does anyone know at one point during your pregnancy could your baby develop an abnormality/deformity? I wondered whether it was on initial conception or whether it could happen at any point during your pregnancy? I know everyone has fears about their baby being born with an abnormality of some sort but I just wondered whether it was all decided by genetics i.e. the mothers and fathers genes or whether other factors such as stress/anxiety, what you eat etc. could influence whether a baby is born with a defect?

http://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/ This looks like an informative website. I know some defects are present from conception and others develop from environmental factors, alcohol, drugs, exposure to toxic substances etc. Stress could cause high blood pressure which could cause complications but I don't think it can cause physical defects for the baby. Try not to worry.

that was a good website... but I cant believe that 1 out of 33 babies are born with a birth defects. I am 33 weeks right now and I always think about my baby having a birth defect.

Everybody worries about it. You can't help it. My stepson is Autistic and it worries me even though my 20 month old doesn't seem to have any symptoms. I just want to enjoy my son and pray that he will always be healthy. The odds are in your favor, there is a very slim chance that you won't have a healthy baby. If you do have a baby that needs special care you would be amazed how strong you can be when it is for your child. Think positive. :0)
