Hey everyone...I am due on June15th. I'm wondering how long it has taken everyone to get back into a bathing suit after having a baby. I want to enjoy my summer after having my baby...I don't have any stretchmarks on my tummy, just on my sides....but i want to get back into a bathing suit this summer! Problem is I'VE GAINED 60 LBS!!! I don't look too huge though. Went from 130 to 186! Everyone tells me I look good (maybe they're lying) I really feel like my belly is just the big part though. How long after the baby comes does it take to get your stomach to look normal?? What does your stomach look right after delivery?!?!?! I'm so freaked out. (I'm gonna br___tfeed too)

I hate to be the one to burst your bubble but it will be a while. I gained 50 lbs with my son and I was 100 lbs. before pregnancy. After you give birth your stomach doesn't go back for sometime it took me about 6 months to lose the weight. My son was born at the end of June also and I wore a one piece bathing suit in my own back yard but would not have went anywhere because I was still a whale for the first couple of months. By the way everyone told me I looked good too and you don't really notice how much weight you've gained until you have the baby and try to put on all those prepregnancy clothes. Don't worry though even though it takes time it will come off just don't expect to be sporty your spring bikini this summer.

OH by the way your stomach looks like your still pregnant right after but it is more flabby and not hard.

*Sob* that sucks. How old are you? (If you don't mind me asking) I know age factors in a little bit to how fast you lose it.

Maddie~ Breastfeeding will help tremendously. It helps the uterus contract and shrink back to it's pre pregnancy size much faster. You also burn up to an aditional 700 calories a day while B/F. 2 weeks after you deliver I bet you will have lost atleast 30 of those added lbs. Exercise of course will speed the process. I don' t think it's unrealistic to expect to be looking good in your bathing suit by the end of August. Be aware however, that your body will never be the same. Everything tends to soften up. Good luck! :o)

Oh, I'm so glad for the encouragement. Thank you Tiffani =)

I was 26 with my son and am 29 now this time I am not gaining so much weight I am 18 weeks and have only gained 9 lbs. I have really been watching my lbs. Everyone is different though maybe you'll lose it quicker. I am not bragging but I am a very pet_te girl I only wear a size 2 and after I had my son I was about an 8 and I got back into all my clothes and am in really good shape so it's not like I'm fat or out of shape. I think it just takes time so don't get discouraged. I did pilates and yoga and it did work I had my son June 21st and by Christmas I looked great it was the summer months that blew! It all came off eventually but the last few pounds were hard.

Sorry if I mislead you I'm sure you'll be able to wear a bathing suit just don't expect to pose for the swimsuit issue of sports illustrated. Also I did get my shape back and looked better than I did before my son because I was in such great shape.

my best friend was about 110 lbs when she got preg. and didn't get a single stretch mark until the last 2 weeks of her pregnancy so beware...

Julie - May 13

I didn't get a stretch mark until after delivery!

Really?? That sucks!!!

How long after delivery?

Well I guess I can forget about my nice s_xy leather strip birthday suit I have plan for Nov (due Sept) LOL. Thanks for all the tips on losing afterwards.I was a size 5/6 to 7/8 prepregnancy. So far 4 1/2 months later I am about 10 pounds heavier. I dont think that is so bad. I try to eat healthy and small meals often. Good luck on losing all you baby weight.

Well sweetie, I wouldn't worry too much about when you will be able to get into a swimsuit. Not only will you not have time to "soak in the sun" even if you did I bet you money you will rather take a nap. Even now, my son is almost three and those days are just over. Just a warning also, I don't want to damper anyone's hopes but the reality is not everyone can b___stfeed. I too thought I would. I took the cla__s, bought the book, watched all my friends b___stfeed and thought-no problem. Well I was wrong, it just didn't work. I am gonna try again this time and be more proactive before the birth with lining up lactation consultants. GL.....

I think there is a big difference between getting back into your bathing suit and looking good (prepregnancy) in your bathing suit. It could take you several months to look good, but, you know what? If you are parading in public with a newborn on the beach or around the pool, I can guarantee that NO ONE will be looking at you, they'll be cooing at the baby. So just get out there and enjoy yourself. Also, the stomach right after delivery is not a nice thing. Think the same belly you have right now, only soft and hangy. Takes a few weeks for it to start to shrink, even while b___st-feeding. Once the belly is gone, you'll see how big your behind and thighs and upper arms REALLY got. That's when you will be shocked. Eh, such is life. It'll go away.

Thank you Anna for being so informative and letting me know what I have to look forward too. THANKS SOOO MUCH. I really appriecate it. I think I will start my depression from now to get a head start. LOL

During the delivery the nurses were saying wow you don't have any stretch marks and i was so proud but when I came home I noticed a few they are really low so I can hide them and they are white so I used Strivectin on them which is really expensive but it really works!
