I've been on birth control since I was 17 (I'm now 24) and I want to get off of it, so my body can get rid of the hormone so I can get pregnant.....however, my finace thinks otherwise...that it doesn't matter....how can I convince him otherwise?

The hormones in the birth control pill do not acc_mulate in your body. Your fiance is right that you don't need to take a break from the pill nor stop it well in advance of trying to conceive. You can get pregnant your first month off of the pill, or even if you just forget one or more pills during a month (which has caused a number of the unexpected pregnancies here on these forums).

It is recommended though that you wait for a couple of months before trying to concieve. Please talk to your doctor about it, he/she will have the answer you want, take your fiance with you to the appointment. It is a discussion to have as a team. It someones depends what kind of bc you are on, strong, mild, pill, injection, patch, etc. Good luck.

Another guy who does not want the responsibility of a real marriage with children. If he is not yet 30 years old, he still has time to change his mind. Ask him what accomplishments he will have to look back on when he is smoking his pipe in the rocking chair on the back porch, age 80. Having and raising a successful family is one of the few tangible things we can give to the world. Good luck!
