Bloated And Difficulty Breathing

Hi all I'm 19.5 weeks pregnant and I am finding that sometimes I struggle to get my breath. This is mainly after I eat as I feel bloated very quickly. I suffer from anxiety so I think this makes it worse. Does anyone else have the same problem?

It'll be from your baby taking up room in your tummy! Now that the space in ther is getting smaller there will be less room for your 'organs'. When you eat your tummy tries to expand and coz baby is taking up a bit of room your tummy cant fill up as much as it used to and therefor sending messages to your brain that your full. Likewise as your baby grows it's pushing upwards and so they'll be less room for your lungs to expand comfortably to what they used to! Dont worry its all part of the course, if your worried dont hesitate to call your doc/midwife to put your mind at ease.

Also, trying eating smaller meals and more frequently. The breathing will be relieved when the baby drops- meanwhile, you must deal with the bloated/indigestion feeling for the duration most likely. Things like Pepsid AC and Maalox Max help- and drink a lot of water- that helps too.

Yes I do have this problem to the T except it's not when I eat it's whenever and it brings on my anxiety.

Dear Maria and Crysta, why so anxious? have you ever tried meditation - not the funny kind - just closing your eyes and focusing on peace of mind. Anxiety is harmful and you have to learn to force your mind in the right direction. I know - easier said than done. Good luck.
