Blood Type Concerns

the mother is a negative blood type and the father is a positive. Should there be concerns? The reason I ask is that the mother has recently experienced a rash and swelling. Was hospitalized and diagnoised as having Steven-Johnson Syndrome. She is still suffering on and off with swelling. A friend told her that she had similiar problems with a preganancy that involved different blood types. Do you think there is a connection and is there anything that can be done to help her? Thank you :)

I could be wrong but I think the only thing she would need to get for her neg blood type is some type of RH shot. I didnt know my blood type when i went to the Dr. she told me that if i had a neg. blood type I would need a shot to prevent anything from happening to the baby. I am not sure if that has anything to do with the swelling, Just tell her to ask her Dr. would be the best,...Since I found out I have a pos. blood type I never really read into it.

I am negative and my husband is positive blood types. I had to get the Rhogam shot in all three of my pregnancies including the one that ended in miscarriage. Rh disease should only affect the infant and that is only if the mother already had a child with a positive blood type and didn't get the rhogam shot.
