Broken Condom With Wife

Hey guys! I've got a pretty basic question and I would love some feedback from you all. My wife and I were having s_x a few nights ago and the condom broke in mid-"session." I had not ejaculated, but I know about pre-ejaculate and some chances of pregnancy involved with that. We don't necessarily want a child right now but I know financially and emotionally we could (definitely) handle it. What are the chances of conception this way? We are right at the point of the "fertile" days in her cycle. Any feedback would be much appreciated! Thanks!

With it being close to her fertile time, there is a chance, but it probably isn't too likely. Good luck!

Condoms suck don't they man? I don't think it is too likely that she is pregnant. I had this happen once and I can relate to your concern. Condoms caused so much consternation with us that my wife just went on the pill. We felt it was more effective...

Hey Christina and JLorenzo! Thank you for the responses; they were very helpful! JLorenzo: I know what you mean about the condoms, they DO suck! But you know, I don't want any little Chucks running around quite yet ;) It looks like we'll be making the switch to the pill soon as well. Thanks for the input!

Well good luck Charlie. Kids really do change your life!

I guess there is a small chance. Do you get Mates condoms in America? If you do, I strongly advise you to stay away from them. I've had 2 of them break on me! Thankfully didn't get pregnant. Never happened with Durex so far.

Well, I know from personal experience, condoms DON'T work. I ran out of the pill back in October and my husband and I decided not to go back on them since heart problems run in my family and I've had some problems myself, and the pill can double a woman's chance of stroke. So we opted for condoms. Well, here we are...4 months pregnant, and we used a condom (and it didn't even break!).

For me, once we decided we were going to have s_x, the race began to open the condom package, put it on and get moving before Mr. Happy decided to settle back down. Most of the time I was successful, but there were times we were both left disappointed. Sometimes you have no feeling with them on. Not to mention that sometimes they don't even work. Oh well. My wife is back on the pill, although she hasn't gotten her period since Abby was born two months ago. We only did it once, but there is a chance!!! How much would that suck?

Lissi - July 6

The pill has always caused problems for me, so as much as it sucks, I think we'll have to stick with condoms until we decide to conceive again. My SIL had a coil fitted and she bleeds all the time. Anyone tried anything that actually works apart from the pill?

One thing works for us! It's called getting married! Then you don't have it nearly as much!!! Haha!

Lissi - July 6

JLorenzo, I'm already married. Lol! Somehow I got pregnant though. :) Miracles happen.

I was using an IUD utrine, for the past two and a half years and it worked great!!! We just got it taken out in May and are ttc.. :o) It works wonderfully with regard to not getting pregnant, but I had pretty heavy periods and pretty heavy cramping with it. But, I suppose that was the price I was going to pay for having birthcontrol with no hormones and you have spontentunity....no condoms and you don't have to take a pill every day nor change a patch every week, nor get a shot every 3 months and it's good for 8-10 years. It is a plastic "T" shape that has copper around it. The copper causes the little spermies to die...A number of people I know have it in and they love it!! Definatley something to think about and research after having a child. I'm going to get one again after I have another baby.....:o)

JLorenzo - July 6

Lissi, Oh well! I guess nothing will work for you guys then huh?!?! Good luck!

Coincidentally (perhaps?), when the aforementioned condom broke the other night I had just switched from Trojan's to Durex condoms; in all my escapades with the Trojans I never once had one tear at all! Then BAM the (c___ppy) Durex breaks! Of course, this is probably just freakish chance and I'm sure Larry Durex or whoever invented them has a lot of lab guys running around doing quality testing

JLorenzo - July 6

Quality testing?! That is funny! I submitted my resume to them, but never heard back...

Lissi - July 6

Oh well Charlie, I guess nothing can be trusted 100%.....Steph, thanks for that information. I'll look into it, but I think it may be the same thing that my SIL had (not sure). I already have bad periods, I wonder if it could make them even worse? I guess there's no helping some people is there? Lol! Thanks anyway.

Lissi have you tried the Nuva Ring? It's only just become available here in Canada but they've been using it for a couple of years in the States. I'm not sure where you are (UK?). It's a ring that you insert once a month and the hormone is applied directly where it's needed. It's a lower dosage because of the application, the hormone doesn't pa__s through your liver and it's just as effective as the pill. I'm going to try it once I stop b___stfeeding.
