Can I perm my hair while pregnant-some say yes and some say no-has anybody permed while pregnant or know anything about that? I have colored with my first born-just wanting to know!

I say no to perms. One thing also is that they dont stay in as well when pregnant. One of my friends doctors told her not to do it.

why would you want a perm anyways? I haven't heard the word perm since 1993!

Keep in mind that no matter what stage of pregnancy you are in, your hormones are out of whack. That effects every part of your body. A friend of mine was preggo and got a perm - she was upset at the results as part of it took - other parts didn't, other parts took too well and made her look like a freakish clown. I would wait until after kiddo is born when things get back to normal...

thanks ladies-I think I will wait to get one. For ech-you'd be surprised at how many women still get body waves and such put in their hair-it is used with chemicals LIKE a perm. But thanks for your comment.....

Perms are fine during pregnancy.the chemicals dont even absorb through the scalp.

Yes you can. I asked the same question. I am now about 9 weeks and I have my perm coming up in three days. Physicians say the Lye sometimes make the woman sick, but it's based on your own senses. You'll be fine, but you can always use a perm that's not as strong, maybe instead of super you can you use a mild etc... hope this helps
