Can You Get Your Baby Drunk

...If a person is breasfeeding and they drink a bottle of wine or something and then when its time to feed the baby can you get the baby drunk..please no rude comments I am corious and I have to ask..b/c I am reading an article right now that says that everything you take coffe/cigarrets/alcohol etc. goes to your milk..anyone knows?

So far that is what I have been told also. I was told to continue to take my prenatal vitiams as well while b___st feeding. So I think the answer is yes.

If you are planning to drink for an evening, I would pump and give that to your baby. As for the next day, I am not sure how long the alcohol would stay in your milk for....so you might want to ask your doctor.

Alcohol does get in to the b___st milk and its peak concentration would be 30 to 60 minutes after consumption or 30 to 90 minutes if you drank it with food. Heavy alcohol use has been shown to have other complications like interference with the let-down-reflex or milk-ejection-reflex. It can also harm the baby's motor development or cause slow weight gain..... light alcohol consumption though has been shown not to be harmful. You can do what Spephanie said, and also pump and discard the milk that is in the peak period as I described above.
