Toxoplasmosis is the only thing that I know about from kitties. You can get toxoplasmosis from messing around with cat feces, handeling soil, or eating undercooked or infected meat. You can keep you cat, just take precautions on what you do. To help prevent from getting toxoplasmosis, Have someone else empty the kitty litter, ( My hubby does it ) Don't feed your cat raw or uncooked meats, Keep the kitty indoors to keep it from hunting birds or rodents, Dont handle raw or uncooked meat, Wash your hands immediately after handeling raw meat, wash all raw fruits and veggies, Use gloves if you garden outdoors, Cats may soemtimes use the soil as litter, and stay away from sandboxes as they may also be used as kitty litter =p Good Luck
