Once you've seen the heartbeat, does the chance for miscarrying decrease?

nope, not until your like 15 or 16 weeks

No. Once you've past the 3 month barrier, it's becomes less and less likely untill about 16 weeks.

If you have seen the heartbeat on an ultrasound then I guess you are approx 20 weeks pregnant. Congratulations! The chances of miscarrying are decreased after 12 weeks. The sonographer who showed you the ultrasound at the hospital would have noticed if there was any risk to the baby. Enjoy your pregnancy and relax.

Hi! The heartbeat can actually be seen as early as 6 weeks along, and yes the chances of miscarriage DO go down if the heartbeat is seen. There is always a "chance" during the first half of any pregnancy for something to go wrong and for the baby to be lost. This most commonly happens during the first 12 weeks. Once the heartbeat is seen most pregnancies do go on to full term. Do some research on this on the net. You will find more information relevant to the heartbeat being seen and how it does lower the chances of miscarriage. If the heart is beating it means that the pregnancy is viable and it is very rare that one would lose the pregnancy. I am 9 weeks pregnant and had an ultrasound at 5 weeks. All this information is straight from my OB. Good Luck!

Wow, there are some different answers! I am now 8 weeks, and had the u/s at 7 weeks. I didn't know if it went down or not?
