I was wondering the same thing and did a search on the net about it. As I understand you are pregnant but there are problems with the fetus or the lining of the uterus etc. I have attached a link to a doc_ment I found about chemical pregnancy.

I had a chemical pregnancy. It is technically a very early miscarriage. I was undergoing fertility treatment at the time (was on Clomid) and when I went in for blood tests, my hCG level was 5. Note that (at my clinic) a 20 or higher of hCG (which is the pregnancy hormone) indicates you are pg and a 0 means a negative test result. So the nurse said my case was "borderline" and that she's seen it go both ways. I could've had a late implantation and my numbers were low but to rise. Or they could fall. So I had to wait 3 agonizing days and learned at that time my hCG had fallen to 0. I was so upset (b/c I was tired of month after month of failing to conceive). My specialist called me. He said that with a chemical, sperm meets egg and there is conception, your body just rejects it for whatever reason (most likely due to a genetic problem). He told me that there are soooo many losses like this, that they happen so early in the pregnancy that most women think that their period is just a little late (or if they are irregular, don't know the difference). The body literally sees a newly conceived pregnancy as a foreign body and parasite and oftentimes rejects first pregnancies. Then, when you get pg again, your body is used to the hormones etc and it is a success. So if you have a chemical pg, as sad as it is, there is def. still hope and no need to think you'll suffer recurrent m/cs. I conceived 2 cycles later.
