Coughing Won T Stop

I am in my first trimester, I have a bad cough and keep coughing. I know it's more common to have coughs and colds during pregnancy as the immune system is lowered, but I don't like coughing so much and knowing it will be making my tummy muscles etc contract or whatever. I guess I'm just looking for reassurance that coughing will not harm the baby. I kee telling myself they are protected in the womb but think I need to hear it from someone else! Thank you girls

During my first trimester, I caught a very bad chest cold - because I was pregnant, I wasn't allowed to take anything for it. I was coughing so badly that I'd throw up, and I started losing a lot of weight - still, DR. wouldn't give me any medication. So, I went out and bought me some Vick's Vapor Rub - I used it for a week, and it cleared up the congestion in my chest, without harming my baby. Anyway, your frequent coughing shouldn't hurt the baby, unless you start throwing up (like me) and losing weight. But, try the vapor rub, cause it's all natural, you don't actually "take" anything, and it works! (I should oughta be a spokeswoman for Vick's)

everyone in my house has had a bad cough for a while now. my 2 year old even came down with pnemonia. :o( hot tea and half a dose of robitussin have kept me going. the tussin was on my list of medications that are safe for pregnancy.
