My HCG test wame back negative - but my period is four days late - is there a chance I can be pregnant?

Yes. It depends whether the HCG test was quant_tative or qualitative. The qualitative versions are designed to measure whether the blood contains at or above a certain amount of HCG (somtimes as high as 50). The qualitative tests are designed to measure the amount of HCG in the blood, which can vary enourmously among pregnant women -- especially those only 4 days late. If I were you, I'd try a very sensitive urine test from the drug store. These tests usually indicate that you can test up to three or four days before your expected period.

Hi Missy. Yes, women can still be pregnant with a negative pregnancy test (usually due to testing too early). The best thing to do is wait for 3 days and if your period still hasn't arrived, re-test. Have you been worrying about this? Stress can cause periods to be late. If you can't wait get a blood test done as they are more sensitive than urine tests.
