When you are pregnant and you have the initial first exam (pap smear)...are they testing you for all STD's?

Most likely yes. They usually do because of the problems that some STDs can cause with pregnancy. You should also be offered an HIV test too, I had to sign a waiver for that one.

As far as I know they will usually have to take blood to test for STD's. I think the culture taken durning a PAP exam is done to check for abnormalites in the cervix etc. I think can detect some not all STD. I could be wrong . Why was a PAP done on your first exam ? I did not have any done on mine. Oh it could be that I used my seem GYN and I had one done earlier last year. !!!

See, I just moved to another state when I was 5 mth prg and had all my blood and pap work done in home town. Now, I am seeing another Dr. and he has already failed to tell me that I have Group B Strep and now I can't help but wonder if he's missed anything else. I know that my blood work came back fine but my prev. Dr. never told me about my pap...Just a little nervous since I am due to be induced in 10 days. Also...years ago, like 8, I was treated for chlamydia and I guess I'm just worrying about every little thing that could go wrong.
