Doctor Visit

At my visits with doc he checks my cervix to see if it is long and hard? What does this mean? Anyone know? Just curious, he said everything is fine, but I have high risks due to some other problems I have so he has to check it a lot. I am almost 17 weeks and have to see him every other week. Thanks!

This just means he is checking if you are dialated or effaced (thinning out) the more thin your cervex is, the quicker you dialate. They will probably do this a lot

I am also high risk (22 weeks) and my doc never has checked my cervix. Male Gyn's freak me out. Is a female nurse present when he does this?

A nurse isn't present but that is my own doing. I completely trust my doc have known him my whole life. I am high risk for several reasons, one being I have had several LEAPS done, so he said he is concerned that taking a lot of tissue of cervix can affect things for me. Plus my other reasons. So I don't think he is doing anything wrong, my mom who was a different doc said she was checked for same things with my sis, she is twelve years younger than me.
